Blogging Your Way From Your Job

Blogging your way from your job is an idea that many, many people think about as they traverse their way down the slippy slopes of corporate America.  I will say this, and it is not the first time that you heard it, but corporate America has no pulse, because it has no heart.  If you work for corporate America you know what I mean, and it is very safe to assume you have been recently downsized, or are in fear of being downsized, or you know someone that has been laid off.  Chances are you have arrived on this page because you would like to blog yourself out of needing a job.

The first thing you need to understand is that any success you may achieve will not happen overnight.  In order to be able to blog your way out of needing to work for someone, you will need to put in a great deal of time and effort producing what is referred to as “original content.”  What that means is that you will need to write articles, such as this one.  Search engines love original content and frown on website content that is merely copied from other websites and then re posted on your site.

I started this blogging adventure in late 2006 and have been plugging away at it since that time.  It is my intention to never give up, because if I do I will be at the mercy of that heartless piece of crap known as corporate America.  Last week the big box retail company I work for decided to announce that they were eliminating ALL commissions paid to their sales-force.  Just like that, in the blink of an eye, all employees that earned a commission will no longer be making a commission.  I will not mention the name of the corporation, because that is not relevant as it could have been ANY of them, as the only thing that matters to the bosses is that they earn more while the working class slobs just shut up and show up to keep the wheels turning.

I saw the look on so many of my fellow employees that had to sit in that meeting and accept what was being crammed down their throat.  It was a take it or leave it, and if you did not like it….you could quit.  It was simply screw you 101.  In fact, if you did quit it would have made them happy because they will be able to replace you with someone that earns less money than they pay you!  The end result is that the corporation took away a chunk of many employees money and they did not even get kissed.

When I sat in that meeting I was very glad that I started this blogging adventure a few years ago because it has been the only thing that has allowed me to have any extra money in my pocket.  When I first started this blogging for money adventure it was to make a little bit of money, but those days are long gone.  Because of the economy, and the continuous cuts from corporate America, the income I make on the web has become a vital portion of my financial survival.  No longer do I do this for merely fun, because the fun has turned into need, which in not a bad thing because without this blogging, I do not know what I would be doing.
